Chrome discoloration

Chrome discoloration
My exhaust tips are having some discoloration in the chrome. Not sure if it's due to the heat of the exhaust or something else but will chrome polish remove the discoloration or do I have to use something else for them to restore them back to a nice shiny mirror like shine?
