I can't remember if i've ever pulled one before, but as along as you have all the bolts out and the wiring undonw its more than likely the dowel pins holding it in place. Just pry it away with a bar.

If it is like the 2.0, there are two ears on the alternator that go on either side of a mounting boss, and they hold tight. If all the bolts are off, pry with a big screwdriver and spray with penetrating oil as necessary.

main problem is, the pivot bolt head fouls on a mounting block.

the bolt has to be removed inboard and not towards the wheel arch.

other sites have said that this bolt rests in a `c`shaped bracket

but i cann`t feel any such opening.

ihave plenty of play but can not can any kind of movement to suggest that the alt is going to move

Without having the car in front of me, this is about as much help as I can provide:

To see the online Shop manual for your car, use Internet Explorer and get a free account to login to http://www.hyundaitechinfo.com/

Navigate to SHOP > SANTAFE(SM) >2002 > G 2.4 DOHC > Engine Electrical System > Charging System > Alternator > Repair procedures

To me, that looks an awful lot like the same mounting setup as on an RD's alternator (mine):

The above image is part of a removal/replacement DIY you may find helpful even if it is not for your car in particular: https://www.hyundaiaftermarket.org/f..._1#entry563387
