Meet the all-new 2010-spec Hyundai Sonata YF. We expect HMIL to have this car on display at the Auto Expo in Delhi in January 2010 and launch it in India shortly thereafter...

After spy pics of the 2010 Hyundai Sonata (codenamed YF) appeared all over the Internet recently, Hyundai has been forced to release some details on its new luxury car and is now even accepting orders for the YF Sonata in Korea.

The new Sonata YF, which will be officially unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show later this month, is fitted with a 2.0-litre petrol engine, mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox. And according to Hyundai, it’ll be one of the most economical engines in its segment, at 12.8km/l.

The new Sonata will come with fancy bits like a panoramic sunroof, gearshift paddles attached to the steering wheel and a push-button starting system. The styling, as you can already see, is a major break from the current-generation Sonata and the new car looks very stylish and distinctive.

Hyundai has sold 4.45 million units of the Sonata worldwide, since the car was first launched back in October 1985. The company expects the new Sonata YF to also do very well against the Japanese contingent of Toyota Camry and Honda Accord. Of course, we fully expect HMIL to also bring the Sonata YF to India, probably by early-2010. The car is very likely to be shown at the Auto Expo in Delhi, in January 2010, and could be launched here shortly thereafter.
