It may not need to bored out, but you will need a ring file, and you have to have a ring compressor, and you will want to get the block at least honed to give the brand new rings a proper seal, they wont if you just toss in some new rings on smooth cylinder be like tossing brand new pads on rotors with that are all worn out.

You can run 91 octane, the compression for a your combo which would be the taller or thicker toped piston and the taller rod would be fine, I think the compression comes out to about 10.5ish/1 from what I was told, which was converted over a compression check off a freshly broke in build. So it should be good. But he is running 93 octane but 91 may do.

for beta II engine its not that helpful the 1.8 cam mod, thus the 1.8 pistons in 2.0 rods increase at least 20 in engine compresion, they are the same bore so rings are the same, also the exhaust manifold of 1.8 will fit better than original catalyzer from beta engines, it would probably be better running with a beta II ecu since this is la the only ecu that makes work the cvvt, also beta II uses airflow instead of map. i had beta 1 and went to beta II i felt the difference quite enough to recomend the change

Ummm im pretty sure beta 2 is map based... I got a beta 2 in my accent which i am looking at right now. mine isn't cvvt so unless they changed back to MAF, wait no there was a newer cvvt elantra at my shop the other day that i was looking at cuz I wanted to swap to cvvt and it was definatly MAP. sorry don't know much about 1.8 cams. What difference did you feel? im pretty sure that they are rated within 5 hp of each other looking at the spec sheets.

sorry i will kick my own ass. aparently they switched back to maf. It was definatly not MAP. It looks like im probably not even gonna bother looking into the cvvt swap. more hassle then gain. I accept my flogging.
