Beta swappers are a dying breed

Have you guys noticed that the amount of Accent owners that are beta swapping their engines are very quickly becoming a dying breed? Im sure its because much harder if at all even possible to swap a beta into the newer accents and the older ones are headed to the car crusher. Plus I think its getting difficult to find an engine that has decent miles and isnt beat to hell.

Because people would much rather make payments on a new GC than actually build a quick car themselves :cent:

it's because no bolt on parts.

You have to make your own mounts.

If somone made a kit. More people would do it.

Im still getting asked questions through PM's and helping people out with wiring so it's still getting done, there just not posting much about it.

Don't forget these cars are approaching 15 years old. They were built/sold as a cheap disposable car, so as the years pass there are fewer and fewer on the road. People are also less likely to dump a bunch of money into an older car.

Bump from the dead....

Is there a definitive beta swap thread? I keep finding bits and pieces. Thought something like this would have been stickied years ago. I have a 99GSi and am very interested in a 2.0L turbo set up.

Thanks in advance.

People who had the older Accents did the swap because it was easy and cost effective. The newer Accents are not as easy and have decent power. And a lot of the beta swapped Accents have been sold and totaled. There is still a good handful of us though who still daily drive our swapped cars and love every minute of it.

Most of the threads in the hyundai hybrids forum are all about beta swapping. You'll find some decent info in there. Most guys are happy to dispense advice on what they have done. There are lots of ways to skin a cat.

If I were to do another beta swap today, I would buy an entire RD elantra for a few hundred dollars and swap as much elantra gear as possible into an X3. If you were a clever boy you could possibly complete the whole swap for under a thousand australian dollars, which usually means about 500-600 USD.

Wheel of steel would it be easier to use 96-00 elantra or 97-01 tibs to do the complete beta swap. I want to do the swap in my 99 gsi.
