Automatic Trasnission
Upgrades available for automatic transmissions.
I have been looking over all the automatic transmission and this is a basic list of what I have seen.
1. Level 10 upgraded torque converter (somewhere in New Jersey/ Levelten.com or 1 973 827 1000)
2. McTyre transmission rebuild (somewhere in west Texas, maybe Midland)
3. Transmission cooler (any generic one will work)
Now somebody feel free to throw in those things that I have not seen. I am curious, can you put a limited slip differential on an automatic transmission. What is the best transmission fluid to use? I know that Royal Purple and Mobile One both have good fluids.
Understand that I do not want to swap to a 5 speed. The swap is too difficult for me to do and too expensive for me to pay someone else the labor. I am trying to find out this info for all of us that have automatics. I am looking for suggestions from mild too wild. If you have price estimates that would be helpful as well.
Thanks,
Jon

A tranny cooler is not a "performance" mod per say, but it will keep your tranny fluid cooler, which will extend the tranny's life.
Level 10 is pretty much your only option.
Redline, Royal Purple, and mobil1 all make auto tranny fluid, but it is debatable as to if they really 'increase' performance, or simply lower friction to allow lost perfromance back.

Maybe I should ask "what are some of the best ways to improve my auto?"

Level 10 is pretty much it for us Autotragics. But I've heard they are outstanding so far anyways. But I can tell you that I don't believe that they are that far off from the cost of a tranny swap.
I don't live near NJ so I don't even know if I could do the Level 10, unless they could just send their products, and then I could have a local performance shop set it up.
Keep us posted though man if you turn over a new rock or something.
