2.0L swap !!!!
 

ok ive decided very soon i will do this mostly cuz of the fact my school now has a tib sitting doing nothing and i might buy the engine. anyways i have the 1.5L sohc engine not the 1.6 i was wondering how swapping would go becuz i heard that u can keep the 1.6L ecu but idk about the 1.5L never heard of anyone doing that becuz also i have a maf i thought the 2.0's used map sensors....?/ any help

You should switch to the 1.6l ECU and do some minimal re-wiring to run a MAP sensor. Jsharptooth is the guy to ask about that, he just did the same swap.

Check out my diy, its easier than you think. Yes you would have to use the 1.6 ecu because its dohc and the 1.5 is sohc. Check out the DIY section or use the link in my sig.

yeah check out Sharptooths DIY it was very helpful to me. I just finished my swap last week. I did it alone with a cherry picker,electric impact wrench, a 200 piece socket set, and a soldering iron. Honestly it was a pretty straight forward swap to do.

How was the diy, did i leave out anything? Anything you would add?

I think your DIY was awesome!!! I mean I went into it blindly with your DIY and a handful of tools. From start to finish I have about 35-40 manhours and $1367.00 dollars into the whole project.

I think that your DIY guide is a great "guide" I have taken pics and notes the whole time and want to compile a semi step by step how to. It'll take a while to type it all up and edit all the pics together. But that Shop manual you uploaded should be of great help to anyone attempting the swap as well.
