Would you tip?
After getting a custom tune, and everything was perfect, would you tip the tuner for doing a good job? Or just pay the regular fee and be done with it?
It's a business that provides a service for a fee. I would not tip unless they went above and beyoned what was expected (i.e., ran into problems that weren't their fault and worked through them, extending dyno time at no additional charge, had you running better than expected, etc.). I'd also wait til the second trip just to make sure the tune was stable and you didn't break down on the way home and regret that "tip" If you're already paying several hundred dollars (let's say $650), what amount would you consider leaving as a "tip" ?
I wouldn't.
I'm with majik. It's business, nobody gets extra unless they *give* WAY extra. Repeat business and word of mouth advertisement is a tip all by itself.
Would you tip your mechanic or service tech for doing the job they were supposed to do?
That's why they get paid for labor.
If an employee went above what you expected and you can afford it why not? They may be getting paid minimum wage for all you know. If it is a business with owner/employee then no, let them build that into the fee.
