Why does the transmission suck so bad
Hyundai did a great job with the GC but I hope to god the next generation has a better tranny. This one is too sloppy and noisy. Im hoping with a new clutch, flywheel, and MT-90 it'll feel better.

I have a CC stage 3 segmented kevlar and it's a leg breaker........ Sure don't slip though.

either cause of hyundai's first effort for a sports RWD coupe or it's just typical hyundai engineering..
they should take apart a s2k's tranny and see what they're missing. |
I would recommend the MT-85 the trans calls for, it helped mine a bit. As far as the trans, the manual is the low volume option and I remember reading about something with the bearings they went with being easier to assemble, but is a bit sloppy compared to a better manual. It could be worse, we could be ripping gears apart like a few of the fords, mustang v6 and the focus ST.
Hyundai got one manual trans right, drive a veloster turbo. That stick is very nice. |
I wonder if the modern equivalent of the skate wheel bearing mod has any application in the Genesis transmission shifting mechanism. It sure made my RD transmission shifting feel a lot better
|
Does Hyundai even manufacture the transmissions? I thought they were made by the same Chinese firm that did the GKs
|
As I understand Hyundai does make the transmissions and the problems come from sloppy assembly. But seeing as they know this why do they keep making POS transmission? Some people are on their third warranty one.

I would like to know the mechanics of shifter feel, but I bet it's something to do with conservative shifter linkage design to cut down on knob vibration. Hyundai certainly has created some shitty shifter feedback in their time.
|
I found that just by switching the tranny oil to something better than Hyundai's oil makes a world of difference. They must use the cheapest and lowest quality oil possible.
