who do you have insurrance through? Lots of times it goes down when you buy a new car...mine went from $120 with my tibby to $92 with the GC.

Gotta sell my Tib first. Dont want to have my tib and the Gen-Coupe both sitting in my garage during winter hibernation.
Definitely going for the I4 turbo. I thought about the V6 since it has alot more power, and with a few bolt ons....it would be quick enough. But with the I4, I could get the same power as the V6 with just a few bolt on as well. Plus, it'll be better on gas mileage. smile.gif

I have the 4 banger and it is way more fun to drive. I test drove both and dont get me wrong the V6 was amazing, but the turbo just gives you that thrill that makes it unique to me. That and its cheaper and you can get the same power as the V6 with some mods and it will still have been cheaper than the V6. So if your not looking for too many luxurys in the car then def I recomend the 2.0T. And if you or anyone has any questions about the GC please ask, i know alot and if i dont know ill do my best to find out for you. Its a great car and a great ride, alot of fun to mod and def catches some attention! lol

I was going to go with the 2.0t, but after Beyond Redline put a rod through the block at 344whp I am really second guessing. Since they've built the internals and got a bit over 400whp on 93 octane which isn't bad, but compared to the RMR Genesis 3.8 with stock internals except for new pistons and wristpins making 650hp and 620lb/ft it seems like the V6 might be a better way to go if you want over 350whp. I want 450-500whp personally.

Yea thats def one way to go about it, but at the same time I know they were pushing those pistons to see how much whp they could get out of them. Ive replaced mine and havent had any problems, granted im not past that mark yet so ill keep you informed lol. BUt yea its a good idea if your looking for that amount of power to go with the V6. My thing is that its my everyday driver, so 600whp+ isnt a good thing for me. Its def your ride and what you want out of it. My goal is about 350 maybe 380 whp which is very attainable and i dont think ill have problems. Im not trying to sell either way dont take this the wrong way, as long as its a genesis ima help you out! lol

Ditto on the 450-500 whp. Unfortunatly they used stock rods in the 2.0T. Aftermarket rods would have been a lot better but we all know you can get major power from the stock V6 with new pistons and such.
I still say its too early for anyone to buy a 2.0T thinking they can do anything to the car. They have intakes and exhausts and little nik-naks that pretty it up a bit but TRUE performance mods are not going to be available anytime soon. A good friend of mine works at Fujita (he makes the prototype intakes). He was telling me that his sources at Greddy and HKS say that any available kits for the Gen 2.0 are not likly in the next year. Greddy I dont belive is going to make anything for it. HKS is working on a turbo upgrade kit, but again who knows when it will come out. There's still nowhere you can get a reflashed ECU for it anyway so to do the stupid thing of buying an exhaust and intake isn't going to be of any good.
I forgot who did it but they did a test with and exhaust and intake on the Gen 2.0 and they found it really didnt do more than 10hp max. SO yeah $800 to buy some parts and get 10hp? What it needs is a reflash with a higher boost release and the intake and exhaust. The reflash is so much more important. Look at Dinan or Dinnin (however itsspelled.) they have everything from intakes to exhausts to cams for the BMW line and EACH one is made to pair up with a reprogramed ECU.

PowerAxel can tune the factory ECU now.
Q4A4 did you replace the rods too or just the pistons? It seems like the rods are the weak point.
Video of 2.0l Theta non-scientific rod test
Video of 2.0l Beta non-scientific rod tests
Those tests alone would be enough to make me want to replace my rods at anything much above factory power levels. That coupled with the example of Beyond Redline's car seeming to confirm that they're made out of some brittle material would have me nervous.
