A guy at a meet last night tried telling people the synthetic oil will give you more power.
A group of us just sat there shaking our heads and laughing at him. He owned a 3rd gen eclipse with a crappy fitting body kit on it.

If you are switching from crappy dino juice 10W30 to a high quality synthetic 0W20 you'll make more power on a cold engine because it's thinner when it's cold. The fact that it's synthetic is almost unrelated to the gains though. Except Royal Purple, which is apparently magic http://speedtalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=23709

I run RP in the race car, it appears to make a bit more power. I have not done a back to back dyno and it isn't dramatic. Just enough to keep me paying extra for it.

Those guys spew the most crap and swear their oil is like the holy grail of things.
