Fair enough, and I don't disagree with you, but when comparing forums to Facebook I see no difference. Any information you put on the internet is at your own risk; Facebook is not the sole company selling your information. Your bank does it, your credit card companies do it, the government does it (Public Records). The forums are crawling with spiders from search engines -- anything placed or performed on the internet should be considered public information indefinitely.

Facebook is actually great, in my opinion. I have a direct connection with many of the vendors (BTRcc, Nameless Performance, G&M, Invision Automotion) and there are multiple pockets of groups with great information. We hope that we can offer something similar here as well; if there are any ideas that you have, please let us know so we can look into getting them implemented. Our PMs have changed here on HA to allow you to invite other members to a conversation. We found this helps to encourage specific discussions among multiple members and is great for setting up group meets.
Do facebook groups support forum-like threads? I checked out the Genesis Owners group and it looks like an endless wall of crap
Nope. That's why we exist instead of simply creating a group. Forums are much more user friendly, searchable, and categorized by topic. There's a huge benefit for forums rather than Facebook.
There isn't much Facebook can do that HA can't as far as HAs purpose and intent is concerned.

The Facebook groups are getting to be harsh too. Its because alot of the jerks from Gencoupe.com are in them and causing all kinds of drama. Not a fan of either to be honest.

Hate it as well. Lost some good chances to work with some vendors to test out more products, but lost it due to some douche bags on the forums. Now those products remain unfully tested and a scared vendor to even release there sh*t.
