Hyundai Aftermarket > Gen Coupe.com
This place has been around longer than any other Hyundai forum and its the only Hyundai forum (to my knowledge and understanding) where the higher ups at Hyundai corporate actually visit, and dealers recommend to Hyundai owners (I've been to 3 dealers alone down here in Florida that all have told me to come here). It wont be going anywhere for a very long time in my opinion.
That's what I said. Oh, and I see what you did there, I just choose not to address it properly.
That's not what I said.
There's one sentence that both of you, apparently missed. Or chose to ignore.

At the end of the day, I see value in gencoupe. It is however not a community I would enjoy participating in. We have a community here with a different outlook and feel, and for people who enjoy this more, staying here makes sense. We aren't really lacking anything here. If you like gencoupe, go there. If you would like, stay here also.
Some people, both active members of gencoupe and others all the way up to and including people who have never even visited the site have a deep seated hatred of gencoupe for one reason or another. Hopefully HA works out better for them. Maybe it will, maybe not, but I hope so.
Several of our valued members and contributors were once considered troublemakers at another site. That at least partially includes myself. Many people find they fit in here better for whatever reason.
I have my own reason for disliking gencoupe, but the main reason is that it is contained within the AutoGuide forum conglomerate. I have a lot of hostility towards what they have done to other forums which they took over. I might be alone here, but I would like gencoupe to be a great forum that prospers and offers a lot to the GC community. I see that's already the way some people see it, but I don't think it meets the criteria I would judge it by. But that's me, and I understand that.
I would hope people have grown tired of fighting over this issue. People getting mad at other people because of their support for or dislike of a forum is pretty much a waste of time and emotions in my opinion. No forum is perfect for everyone. Find one (or more) that you like, and enjoy yourselves.

^ agree totally
Sorry... I've read the last paragraph a few times and keep coming back with the same thoughts.
Sentence 2 (of the quote below) suggests the site won't totally shut down, but it's close to being a ghost town.
Sentence 3 states plainly that you're trying to use a past vehicle to convey your point (I assume the point in the previous sentence that this site is close to being a ghost town).
Sentence 4 suggests we shouldn't dismiss what happened to the other site simply because it was in the past, and that people repeat history.
I find this forum to be far from a ghost town, but that's just my opinion.

This is what research has taught me. No, this site won't be a ghost town (its close) because of all the other platforms. But, if you read my story correctly, you'll understand that I'm just trying to convey my point using the past as a vehicle. You can dismiss it as being the past, but any rational person knows that history repeats itself, or rather, people repeat history.
Things could turn out different...
Very important phrase.
No, this site won't be a ghost town(its close) *because of all the other platforms.
I say it's close because of the inactivity I've seen. Either inactivity or the holidays, but I'm new here so I'll retract my "it's close" remark.

My point is that it could happen here. I'll be more clear and specify that I'm applying this to the Gen Coupe. Refer to my revised "ghost town" statement. My meaning didn't change, but I do hope I've made clearer.
You can dismiss it as being the past, but any rational person knows that history repeats itself, or rather, people repeat history.
All I'm saying here don't be so naive (or cocky) as to believe it can't happen here, again, in regards to the Gen Coupe.

Fair enough. Thanks for the clarification.
It can happen. We've seen it happen to some of the best - HyundaiPerformance.com went down FAST after it was acquired by AutoGuide. RDTiburon.com saw activity decline after 7 years of success because it was focused on the 96-01 Tiburon. It happens.

Non model specific sites like HA will NEVER die out, compared to the model specific ones. What happens if Hyundai decides tomorrow that 2013 will be the last year for the Gen Coupes. Not saying that will happen, but eventually all specific models by manufactures will cease to exist as new models come out. And over time when that happens, the model specific sites lose traffic as less and less people either own or buy them.
I have decided to leave GenCoupe.com for good too. After seeing the recent issues on Facebook someone had with Import Shark over their grill not fitting right and how IS handled the problem, along with how Jay from SFR has treated customers in the past, was the final straw for me. Some of you guys can chat about how Gen Coupe is getting better but the reality of it is as long as they let vendors like IS and SFR on there, it will never get better. I'm done with that site. I will be calling this my home going forward.
