Buy some cheap LEDs from Autozone/napa/advanced auto, splice to your door switch so they come on when the door opens.

Do it right, Cut your door light wiring, solder, heat shrink tube it, and black tape over that. Once finished the rest is just as simple as figuring out where you want to locate it.
