Default Engine Whine

I just had my power steering flushed because the shop said the fluid was burned. I had them flush it out and put new fluid in. Now Im getting an engine whine when I accelerate and when I turn the wheel to either side. Could my pump be shot or could this be something else? My belts look ok and they dont look like they need to be changed.

make sure they filled the fluid completely

Probably left air in the system that finally worked it's way out and now the level is low.

Update...I listened more carefully, turned the wheel back and forth a few times and realized the noise isnt coming from turning the wheel. It's only coming from when you accelerate or when you rev the engine. Brake fluid is completely filled too. Could it still be what you guys all mentioned or something else? Someone said it could be the transmission going to but I've never heard a tranny making whining noise like that.

It still could be your power steering pump even though your fluid is full. Are you sure your belt are tight? Could be your tranny, pump, belts, or alternator. Strange that it doesnt make the noise though when you turn the wheel and it only happens when you accelerate.

Tighten the timing belt too much and the engine will sound like it's supercharged when you rev...

It can definitely still be your pump. If you got air in the lines and then filled the fluid, the air bubbles will cause issues with the pump and you'll get that whine noise even if you're accelerating. It doesn't necessary have to be when you turn the wheel.

The easy way to tell if the noise is your PS pump, is to remove the PS belt and see if the noise goes.
