Adjusting speedo for different size rims and tires
Is there any way to adjust a speedometer for bigger sized rims and tires that are not stock? I think there are programmers out there for trucks that plug into the ecu ports to adjust for non-oem rim and tire sizes. Didnt know if there programmers for Hyundais too.

I am also interested in this as well, hope someone knows.

I don't see the point? I have 16" rims on my Accent and my speed o can't be off by more than 5 mph at higher speeds. I could understand the need if you have GIANT tires on your truck, but for our cars, I say forgetaboutit.

The problem comes in when your tires' outside diameter changes by an inch or more. Normal tire tread wear will be at least that much of a difference, from fresh to worn-out tires. The WHEEL has very little to do with the whole question, unless they are too big to fit a tire in something like the stock tire diameter.

Well in my case I have a few things going on, like the elantra trans feeding an LC2 gauge cluster in an LC. I found that with 205/50R16 the speedo is perfect but thats a bit to much sidewall for me so I went from 50's to 45's. This has me off by 5mph, for instance if my speedo says 70mph im doing 65.

Did you use highway mile markers to measure or ???
This could be a good time to print up some custom gauge faces with a speedometer calibrated for your setup. |
I used the electronic speed displays that are all over california for measuring my speed.

I can look into making a converter/rescale box that goes between the speed sensor and the rest of the harness if you guys think it's marketable.

when upgrading to bigger wheels and tires..it's recommended to stick with "plus sizes"
or a tire that has the same diameter of the oem size tire.. |
