Sonota 2011 2.0T Engine swap Idea...

SO, after years of trying to find a way to legaly get my Accent turbo charged I think I have finally found the right swap. The new 2011 Sonata turbo. 274hp/ 269 trq this should do just nicely :-)

Now after looking into every nook and cranny I can trying to find info about the car I have just 1 issue and with your help maybe find a solution.

The Sonata 2.0T comes in ONLY an Auto? If so do we happen to know if there is a FWD manual tranny that can be used in it's place. Now i read it is the same 2.0T used i the Genesis Coupe. Am I right about that?

Anything else you guys might know would be greatly appreciated.

they are different engines. One is the Theta with Multiport fuel injection (Gen) and the other is Theta II with Direct injection (Sonata).

it's going to be an expensive swap, as these cars are brand new and it won't be cheap/easy to find a donor car.

Why not grab an old beta engine and turbo charge that? It seems to be the most common swap for accent owners.

You can use the 6 speed from a Forte.

Biggest problem will be the Sonata harness swap. You can't run a DI engine on a standalone (yet).

Well it will require new harness, new ecu, new custom axles (different spline count) new mounts, and who knows how the ecu will adapt to not having certain things connected like traction control

When the new sonata's first came out(when the first one hit Halifax),I went to the local Hyundai dealerships, and No-one could even direct me to where I could get a new crate engine?, one even told me theres no possible way to get a crated engine from Hyundai!?.I Informed them of the turboed version to be realeased soon and they didnt even know about that!lol. Theyre not very bright around here...

^^^ i know more about hyundai's here than all the dealers and that isn't saying much.

I, too, have to educate the dealers on our cars. My salesman was new and abitious, only 3 weeks fresh into sales, so he had been researching Hyundai and knew more than most at the dealership.

I have been thinking about this same swap, well the genesis not the sonata. The beta swap is nice and I went through slot getting it smog legal here in cali but I want to go turbo and be legal cuz as soon as a cop hears a blow off valve ill be seeing flashing berries. Id be willing to look at the wiring schematics and see whats possible. I have no idea how traction control works, is this something controlled by the tranny?
