turn signals/hazards no workie.

So before I went to Iraq in February, my hazards didn't work but my signals worked fine... Just got back 2 weeks ago, drove for about 3 days then my turn signals went out also. I checked every bulb, all filaments are fine. I replaced the flasher unit relay. I have tried between the two hazard switches I have, nothing. It is driving me insane. I completely disassembled a switch and cleaned it out, the factory grease was dirty, assembled and still nothing. I flip flopped the bulb in the hazard switch so that it lit up and still nothing. I checked the turn signal bulbs in the dash, they are fine. If I slightly engage the hazard switch just enough for the metal to make a connection, I can hear, and i put my hand on the flasher relay to verify, makes a small click, but nothing.

California highways are not a safe place to just have arm signals, someone please help so I can drive my car!!!!! cliffs.gif mad.gif

Oh, and I verified that every fuse in the kick panel and under the hood are fine.

yep, unless there are hidden fuses. Are there??? I'll try about anything at this point. Almost ready to use a multimeter to do point to point continuity.

So, just to clarify you replaced the flasher and turn signal relays?

Can you check for voltage, either in the power wire or before the fuse? That might be a starting to point to see where the power cut off is at.

I just printed some schematics off of hmaservice. I'll do some wire checking when i get off work.

I'm sure I can answer my own question when I investigate in a few hours but, besides the flasher unit relay, are there seperate relays for the turn sigs?

187sks 09-29-2008 05:51 PM

I had to replace one, I think there were two, one for the hazards and one for the turn signals...but I am not 100% sure on that actually...

i pulled the 3-prong hazard flasher relay out and got 12 somethin volts when i flipped the blinker lever on either direction with no volts in the middle position, i switched the negative multimeter lead to the third point and i got 12 volts with the hazard switch...

aggravated beyond measure.

I wonder if a plug in the wiring harness has come loose?
