You can remove the speed signal from the Speedo to the ECU, but it will cause your car to die occasionally when coming to a stop.
You can just cut the speedo to ECU wire.

And this will cause your car to die? Why? Is there anyway around it? Is it worth it? Will the speedo needle still work? Sorry for all the questions Random but I'm very interested in it. And last will it give you any extra bonus like a boost of the line etc.. or just allow you to go faster? Thanks again.
I agree with you guys I've gotten mine up alittle past 125 with no problem but what I'm wondering if you take it of will it remove the restriction of how fast you go in each gear in a set time frame like if you cut it will it alow you to go 5 mph faster in first gear in one less second because there is no restriction from the ecu and again Random is it worth it?
whoa, ok well i'm absolutly no expert on this stuff, so ya prolly shouldn't listen to me but i'm gonna talk anyways.
I'm thinkin that the rev limiter (which is what you are talkin 'bout when u say u want that extra lil bit in 1st) is there for a reason. As i understand it, the peak hp comes at 6000rpm, so going any higher than that is pointless (to the redline, cos that's only 750rpm above peak). By the time you exceed the redline, your car is no longer making peak hp, so it would be in your best interest to up shift so you get back into your powerband. so if you were to remove the rev limiter and shift at say 7000 or 7200rpm, a guy in a tib just like yours will beat you in a race if he shifts at the natural redline. hope this sorta kinda maybe makes sense.
k i just realized i'm a moron, cos i just got what your gettin at here, so uhhhhhh i guess just disreguard everything i just said...

i've gotten mine up to 130 before it won't let me go any faster, and why don't you just get a new ecu? i think they do make em.. ya just gotta dig ^.^ on another note, i think random has one, so if you're really nice he might tell you where to find it
Blue Streak - close, but I believe he's talkign about something different. The rev limiter IS there for a reason: to keep you from blowing your engine into little tiny bits.
The SPEED limiter is like a governor...it limits the maximum speed your vehicle will go before the limiter kicks in and temporarily cuts your power 'til your car coasts below the limit. This is something that is mainly on US cars, for insurance reasons. It's a pain to get around, because the limiter is reading from the cluster or something silly like that. I dunno. Random knows how it works...if anyone has the wiring schematics of the darn thing, I'd like to take a look at it. There might be a way to wire in a simple kill switch that can be activated from the cockpit. Turn it off to blaze down the highway, but when you need to coast or stop, turn it back on so you don't kill your engine.
