Default Random, Lo&Show, Anybody with insurance exp.

Bad day!
My questionis this. has anyone here had experience with insurance companies in getting aftermarket parts instead of factory ones to get replaced. I was considering getting the Veilside kit for my car if it's not totalled. The impact was slight (25Mph) but was enought to damage both fenders, my hood, and my whole front bumper. The motor runs and the airbags did not go off. I have not drove the car yet and don't know if there is any suspension/frame damage. But if car is not a complete write-off I would love to get a body kit as replacement pieces instead of the factory parts. If there is enought left I was even considering a turbo. But I need to know how to pursue this. any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Oh BTW the other person involved is the one who was cited and his insurance company is paying for this. I over my insurance reps talking around 6G's. Not sure though.

my GF just did this not to long ago,
she just worked it out with the insurance guy from the guys insurance that hit her.

you can also have the insurance rep make a quote on your car damage, then tell him to you write you a check for the all the damage and you will take car of it getting fixed, then you can use the money how ever you want

Some insurance companies have it and other do not. Basically show car coverage will cover any type of custom modification you have done to your car...such as body kit, interior work, rims, etc...

And then the regular full coverage policy's just cover the normal stuff in full. I have 3 policy's. Full coverage, Show Coverage, and a seperate policy for my audio/video system. Insurance just went up a little so I'm paying $145/month total for all 3.

If you don't have the receipts for whatever aftermarket parts you supposedly had then the insurance company is not going to pay you for them.

Veilside body panels are far more expensive than OEM parts. Insurance is gonna pay you the least amount possible to get your car fixed.

No I just have regular insurance. It's through progressive but I've had luck with them before. I'm only paying $123 a month with them and got pretty good coverage. They are replacing all of my vinyl striping and also my SR clear corners. I just got the quote from them and it's only for $3166.72. They said that no matter what body shop I choose that they have to work with that estimate. If it goes over they have to call progrssive to get it worked out. But this is only if I go through progressive to get it fixed. I could wait on his insurance company and see if it's going to be a bigger estimate. Also progressive took a ****-load of digital pic's of my car at the scene. I asked them to e-mail them to me so I can print them off but I thought instead I could post them and see what you guys think. If the images ever get fixed on here. eek.gif

As I mentioned before the insurance company is out to fix your car for the LEAST amount of money. I'm pretty sure the other guys insurance estimate will be less.

On a side note, once you file and receive your claim with Progressive, I suggest you switch insurance companies. If you file a claim again within the same policy cycle you may be deemed as an INSURANCE RISK and they could very well cancel your policy.

Thanks for the heads up! Would it help then if I waited on his insurance company? That way I wouldn't have to file a claim on mine at all? Or should I just go ahead and get it fixed ASAP then switch?
