Default power steering isn't sufficient

power steering isn't working after replacing power steering fluid hose (towards the back of the engine)

is my power steering getting starved of extra pressure cuz of the hose i replaced??

the steering pump stays quiet..

no sounds of power steering pump..

it does not appear to be leaking fluids at all..

the hose is 3/8" [less than 10mm] heater hose from advanced auto parts..

is that a big enough hose

i have tried to use search function with no luck

to not prolong the time of this thread could someone please give me specific diameter of the power steering oil return hose? the rubber piece

it may be the power steering pump itself

Are you talking about the preformed large-diameter suction hose from the reservoir to the pump? I broke down and bought a hose from the dealer, it wasn't that expensive. The lines to the cooler are a standard diameter, take a sample of the old hose to a hose shop and they'll have it. Make sure you get hydraulic oil hose, you would hate to use coolant hose and it gets eaten by the oil.

Any part of the pressurized steering system needs to be steering hose. Auto parts stores usually have it. Heater hose is not oil resistant and will bulge under the pressure.

so steering hose is dif from heater hose for coolant systems and such however mine isnt really bubbling from pressure, but its sweating through the hose kinda only on the pump to res hose

Tha analogy is imperfect, but compare using hose designed for the wrong fluid to using a paper sack to carry water.

I use fuel line hose. It's cheaper and easier to find.
