P1128 code hint/fix
 

I read a lot about the early LC's having a P1128 MAF code. I have had a few of those cars in my shop for the same problem, and found corrosion on 2 of the electrical connectors on the sensor plug. Rather than replacing the sensor, I found if people physically clean the electrical contacts might save people some money. I found those sensors do not necessarily fail easy, but the electrical connection is prone to get filthy.

I had a 2001 LC Accent in the shop 2 weeks ago and the code came up. Owner said that she needed to wait until she had the money to replace the sensor. However I found a connection that was corroded and cleaned that. I left the light on to see what happened. She called me yesterday to tell me it is off. Cost to her: free.

Ye, all it takes is some electrical connection cleaner and an old toothbrush. Hopefully more people will see this post before they buy anything.

This can be applied to all MAF based cars.

True, this works wonderful. Untill you put an intake and exhaust on it and then you just have to live with the long term o2 lean code.

You would have to add fuel, or figure out how to increase fuel pressure to the injectors. However, too large of an exhaust and intake will cause the same probblem.
