Default ignition coil burnt out

has anybody ahd this problem? I was installing my ZEX kit arming switch and run the wires through the car's wiring harness grommet behind the intake manifold. After all the installation was done and all are working fine, I started the car and the ingnition coil smoked out. any thoughts on what went wrong? all the lead wires and ground wires seemed to be ok, though.

Sounds like you cross wires somewhere, or you grounded out a wire somewhere. I would triple check your wiring before replacing that ignition coil, or you'll just smoke the replacement.

Sorry, when I said "crossed wires" somewhere, I should have been a tad more specific.

When you hooked up the Zex box, whatever you wired it into, must have been wrong, as you fried the coil. Chances are you tapped into the wrong ignition wire or tapped into the wrong wire by mistake.

I wired it straight to the battery though. I didn't tap on any wires. just inserted the wires thought the grommet behind the intake manifold were all the wires from the engine bay goes through. I just don't know how to get into it from behind the dash.

Where do you have the BOX?

Do you have a fuse in your zex kit?

ok, this is how I hooked it up.

the box is mounted by the wiper motor on the firewall, the purge kit solenoid is right behind the intake manifold above the wiring harness grommet. The lead wire is connected directly to the battery with an inline fuse. I grounded it to the body. I inserted the lead wire through the grommet and use a coat hanger to push it through. I wired the the arming switch and the purge kit in the same lead wire. Done. Tested the wiring if the unit turns on and they did. Did not tap into any ignition wire or anything.

I started the car and poof goes the ignition coil pack.. . checked the wires on the ignitoin coil and they are fine not even burnt or any wires are dammaged. So go figure?

What about the nitrous line?
Is it touching the coil pack?

You say you got it grounded to the body (1 wire)
The other is hooked up directly to the battery with a switch in the middle

The fuse for that wire is within 6 inches of the battery

Now wheres the third wire?
Were do you have it tapped into?
Tell me exactly what wire
