Default help with cai

ok i hope some one could help me i have a 2001 tibby and i just instaled a CAI went together perfect but problem is at low idle it seems to spit and sruter and all around run rough only for a few moments then it picks back up also when it is running rough it puts out black smoke now origanaly o/2 sensor was not in intake found that out when i changed it over i have done no other mods to to car just getting started please if any one els has had this problem please help me out it is driving me nuts

Make sure you put MAF sensor pointing the right direction, there should be an arrow on it.

thankx maxxtibb it seems to hav worked i feel lik a big tard suicide but now check engine light is on any help on why possible

might just be a bad reading from the MAF but now thats it's all good I would just disconnect the battery for 15 minutes to clear the codes and turn off the check engine light then drive around a little and see if it comes back on.

The sensor in the intake is the Intake Air Temp sensor, not an O2 sensor. O2 sensors are in your exhaust.

Now that you have the MAF problem sorted out, the CEL will eventually shut off, but the car's performance will be limited until then.

You can reset it yourself by removing the negative battery cable overnight.
