Default Damn car wont take gas!

and no- it isnt because it is already full...
Im near empty and my car would only take about a gallon(half in the tank and half on the paint). The gas attendant (remember, no self-serve in Oregon) tried multiple times, but the gas just kept bubbling back out. Anyone else ever had this problem with their tib? suggestions?

I know some people with 1997's and 1998's complained of this problem...but you've got a 2001, so you shouldn't have the problem.

Try having the guy put gas in the car SLOWER rather than 100% flow, have him try 75% flow or 50% flow.

You also might have a blocked up tank vent that is forcing all the air right back out the filler hole.

Either that...or you pissed somone off and they stuffed somthing in your gas tank. It happened to a friend of mine back in Minnesota. They somehow stuffed a mcdonalds cup, lid and straw into his gas tank filler hole. (don't ask me how). It caused him all kinds of hell till he finally yanked the gas tank and found all the crap. The cup remants were messing up the filer tube, and the lid and straw were 75% melted around the fuel pump pickup.

I know the early tibs and elantra had problems with filling up the gas tank due to a faulty shut off valve, but your tib is a 2001 so it should have the improved one in it already. try a different gas station, the one you were using may have a faulty pump.
