a cai will unrestrict the airflow to your throttle body. right now you have all this factory bs that the air must make it through 2 get 2 the engine. once u put on a cai it replaces all that bs and your engine gets more air. more air= more hp not much hp but a noticible difference for at least me.Its like strangleing someone, old air induction would be the rope choking you, once you put on the cai, there is no more rope to choke you. thats best way i could describe it if i sound like an idiot oh well hope that helps you some

now that i think about your explanation.. i thought of one of my own...

a CIA is like unchoking your engine.. while nitrous on the other hand, is like artificially inseminating your engine with more oxygen, and it gives birth to more power !!!

nice huh !?? hehahaa

LOL

The stock intake is like trying to breath Through a coffee stir straw. You can do it, but you gotta work damn hard to do it, and you don't get much air. You couldn't sprint the 50 yard dash that way.

Installing a CAI is like breathing through a nice big fat mcdonalds straw. Much larger diameter so much easier to breath.

Also, most CAI's have high flow cone air filters. The stock system has you sucking through paper.

It is a "cold" air intake because MOST mount the air filter in the fenderwell, away from the hot under hood air. (radiator, headers...hot engine..etc.). This allows the CAI to suck in outside temp air. The colder the air...the more dense it is. The denser the air, the more oxygen it has by volume. More oxygen = more HP.

One of the "ancillary" benefits of a CAI is much bettter throttle response. Since the engine can breath/suck better, you get faster throttle respose.

Probably because there are 1000 members on this board alone who want to talk to him

And Random, you mind if I take that explaination of a CAI? The one I've been using is old.
