Default CAI in the rain, Random special

Hey Random,
I got the CAI from you the random special, but I don't know if rain water is good for it. It hasn't be sumerged in water but what about a little water spraying around it? is that bad? should i change back to the stock set up? or do you have any suggestions?

The filter is protected on 3 sides by the fender, the wheel well arch, and the under fender liner. The small amount of water that gets past the one open side is nothing to worry about.

if you do not have that bottom piece or the fender well (I don't have either!) then I would reccomend removing the CAI and just strapping the filter to the MAF.

The Photos you see of my engine by on www.onlineshowoff.com are of the "rain" configuration for the turbo. In dry weather, I tuck it back into the fenderwell. Once I get wheel arches put back in, and have a fenderliner put back in...then I'll be able to keep the filter down there all the time.

I put random special in my car, and I live in Washington state(vancouver), and have driven the car through puddles up to the fender without any problem..radiator was smoking but thats 'bout it. I mean unless i completely submerged the fender, the intake isn't really getting hit that much. I have the intake facing directly into the spot where some of the "cooler" tibbies have their fog lights heh(i have 2k tib btw). I do have that bottom piece of fenderwell in though.(wow and this post is only like 1 year late)

Also...if you are ever "worried" about water getting into the intake, keep the RPMS LOW. The lower the RPM, the SLOWER the air speed in the intake, and the less likely you will suck up any water.

Keeping things below 3000 RPM or lower should prove to be perfectly safe.
