Default Belts

How do you go about installing new belts? I got all new belts for my 97 Elantra (power steering, a/c, water pump) and wanna put them on. Also wanna know, how to go about loosening/tightening belts. I'm gettin a squealing after my friend installed my underdrive pulley and i've come to the conclusion that my belts either too tight or too old (looks a little frayed) so i got all brand new belts.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanx.

To remove all the belts do the following.

Loosen the alternator. There is one bottom bolt you need to loosen so that it will pivot, then you need to loosen the adjuster bolt so you can get the belt off.

There is another adjuster pully at the rear/bottom of the engine. You need to loosen the adjuster bolt on that pully to remove the rear belt.

You will also have to loosen the power steering pivot bolt, and the adjuster bolt.

With all of them loose, you should be able to uninstall all belts, and re-install new belts.

DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN THE NEW BELTS. The belts should have between 6-and 10 mm of free play when you press on the longest run. If they don't move that much, they are too tight.

The power steering belt is the last belt to come off, and the first one to go on. Then the AC belt, then the Alternator/water pump belt. the PS pump is driven off the water pump.
