Attn: Cheuk -- Fittings Help!!!
Cheuk, Red, Random, or anyone else who knows fittings for oil and fuel well . . .
I have tried all weekend to find fittings for my Garrett T25. I've measured and remeasured, and nothing seems to match exactly right.
I can't find NPT threads that fit, I tried compression fitting standards that didn't fit, and I've measured for the US AN-X standard and that's close. The oil feed matches up with the AN-4 fitting size and the water feeds line up with an AN-6, but . . .
The oil drain measures 13/16" diameter, which doesn't seem to correspond to a particular AN- thread size or NPT. It does correspond to a compression thread size, but that didn't work.
I'm pulling my hair out here, how do I plumb this thing . . . !!!!
Any info on the fittings would be appreciated. Online searches have so far found nothing.
thanks,
ac

Take the turbo down to your local large warehouse hardware store. They will have a whole Aisle with various different adapters and such that you can try on to get the size/fit/thread you need.
Yeah, I'll probably try that tonight. I went to Home Depot to try some compression fittings (from measurement data, it looked right), but everything I got did not fit. I did luck out, though, and figured out that the water inlet is 3/8" NPT. So that's two holes figured out.
I'm just worried that the inlet fitting is AN or SAE standard instead of NPT. None of the stores I've called around here stock the AN fittings, so I'd have to "order and pray".
I was just hoping Cheuk had done an install on a T25 and would remember the fitting sizes.
Thanks, I'll keep everyone posted.

Well, I figured it out. The answer was not at Home Depot (although it helped narrow down the search). I returned the compression fittings and then went to pep boys to return some of the NPT fittings, when I discovered "inverted flare" fittings. They looked like they'd fit, and sure enough, the 5/16" fit perfectly for the oil feed. However, they didn't have one big enough for the oil drain. The thread is exactly the same as a 5/8" flare fitting (although the flare doesn't seat right). So I have more to go on.
Basically, the oil supply and drain were designed for flared copper tubing and a compression nut. That's why most fitting didn't exactly seat right.
whew, that's a load off. now to price some adapters at summit . . .
