Default 4-1 header help

Which header should i get, the shark racing 4-1 for $430.00 or the HVE 4-1 for $350.00? The HVE I know is only steel and not stainless so it might not look as good in the long run, but is the shark header stainless or just steel? Let me know which one you guys would favor and why. Thanks guys.

i'm going to try not pull the "but a my one because I got it, routine". But I have the 4-1 sharkracing one and I love it. It sounds really cool and gives you some power to the wheels. Its stainless and you might want to ask someone who has the HVE ones about their experiences.

But i like mine wink

Yeah it's hard to compare--most people don't have 2 exhaust headers on a 4-cylinder smile.gif

Decker was it a pain to drill another hole and mount the censor in your header?

Your Tib is looking nice decker, do you think that heat wrap on the intake is actually helping? What kind of strut bar is that?

The heat wrap on the intake does help, but it doesn't look terribly attractive. Over time, it will mar or mark the finish of some CAI's. (just a warning).

The SR header comes with a flange on the end for mounting. The HVE unit does not come with the flange for mounting. This means a little additional expense when you goto your local exhaust shop to have it installed. Both headers require a hole to be drilled and a threadded nut to be welded on to allow the first o2 sensor to screw in. If you go with the HVE unit, I reccomend spending the extra $$$ for the ceramic coating. It will keep it looking nice, and it also keeps under hood temps way down.

Ok, first question, second o2 sensor hole, kinda wierd, I cheated. I cut the old hole out of the old exhaust pipe, ground it down so it was like a ring of thread, and drilled a large hole in the MBRP exhaust behind the cat. I then just welded it back in. Took like 20min-40min to do.

Second question, nobody's had both the 4-1 and 4-2-1 header on their car so its hard for me to tell you which one is the best. Thats why i told you i love my 4-1 smile.gif no probs so far. (xcept a little noisy wink

Also as far as the heat wrapping goes. My car isn't a show car. Its a racing car. I like power, and i'm not a "look at my engine" type of guy. The heat wrap will help heat stay out of your intake. And while there's no shown gain on this yet(nobody wants to shell out 100 bucks to dyno before and after) I can feel the power hold where before it'd start sapping after a 15min of hard driving.

Ceramic coatings the best, but I can't go without a intake or headers now for a few weeks, so I'll live with the heatwrap. I think it looks kinda cool. Although not show quality smile.gif

Right now i'm not sure on the direction I want to go. I was hoping for a supercharger and then getting ballistic pistons and conrods and then slapping 100shot of nos on this biatch smile.gif (its fast as hell right now, and 100% N/A). But I might hold of, get a small shot of NOS and build up a turbo after I graduate instead of getting myself a GSX-R smile.gif (hey random you feel me right? or would you go for the GSX first wink heheheeh)

Oh and those bars are SR smile.gif
