Soda ban backfired
Study: Limiting size of soda makes people want to drink more
An independent study of soda sizes suggests the proposed ban on extra-large soft drinks in New York City may have backfired.
Researchers at the University of California, San Diego examined how much soda consumers would buy if offered varying sizes on a menu.
Overall -- they ordered more when their choice was limited to smaller serving sizes -- than if they had the option of ordering a super-sized drink.
That proposed ban of super-sized sugary drinks sold in New York City was recently struck down by a judge.
