Physical fitness when you work at a desk

I work behind a desk all day in a cubicle and I hate that I just sit around for 8 hours. What can I do to achieve some physical fitness during the day? I try to get up and walk a little around the office every 45-60 minutes but I feel like it's not enough. Anyone have some tips?

get a standing desk or one of the little pedal things for your footrest - but really you need to move more before/after work or at lunch, if you are sedentary at work

Honestly you walking around isn't going to do very much other then burn very little calories.

What I suggest is buy yourself some dumbbells (20lbs, 30lbs and 40lbs). Do 3 sets 10 reps bicep curls, 3 set 10 reps standing Arnold shoulder press, 3 set 10 reps lateral raises, 3 set 10 reps shoulder shrugs and 3 sets 10 reps standing dumbbell squats. And for cardio walk around the office with 2 heavy dumbbells until you get tired from holding them and rest 1 min. in between every sets you do.

This should take you 40min to 50min. to complete. And buy plenty of body spray!

I've sat at a desk for 20yrs. 8+hrs each day. It's possible to keep in shape if you really do so after work. But, you can try bringing dumb bells or resistance bands to work and using them during lunch. Also do pushups and situps. That should be more than enough to keep in shape.

I've been lazy over the past year and gained about 20lbs. In the last 2 weeks, I've just been walking and lifting weights after work. Putting in a full hour. I'm also watching how much I eat so I'm not stuffed like I used to get. So far, I've lost 8lbs in these 2 weeks.

As a member of the Chairforce I feel your pain. I do about 20 (doesnt have to be 20) pushups every hour on the hour and 20 chair dips on the 30 min marks.

I am afraid about the work at a desk. It may cause a lot of health problems

My job is in the front of the computer. I have to stay 8 hours at the desk and this is bad for the health. Anyway, I love my job and I like that I manage to do some sport too. Recently, because of the work I had some problems with my back and the doctor recommended me to do some yoga exercises at home. I followed his advice and you may enter here to see what trainings I learned. It is very calming and I enjoy it.
