It does cause you to target different muscles. But $39 plus shipping is nuts. Go buy some high density pipe insulation instead.

...or use a roll of masking tape/duct tape. Buy 5" of PVC pipe so you can easily add/remove it from whatever bar you're using. Roll the tape into the edges of the PVC to make it more of a snug fit.
