Decide you need to quit and do it.

My dad tried Chantix and it caused/triggered diabetes. He had never had blood sugar problems, and within 2 weeks of starting Chantix he was at the doctor with blood sugar off the chart of the meter.

My homeboy tried chantix and he went insane. He's a little zany anyway but when your wife needs to use a safety word to get you to calm down, you're too zany. When you almost shoot somebody in the face and beat people up at work for minor offenses, you're off the charts. When you stop going to work because you don't feel like it anymore that's a problem. Then when he got off chantix he had withdrawls.

A girl at work also tried chantix. She turned into a straight up raving b*tch until she stopped.

Every single time you extinguish a cigarette, you have stopped smoking. Everyone knows that only a dumbass would start smoking. Every time you light the next one you have started smoking again.

Are you a dumbass? Will you start smoking again? Or maybe the cancer, emphysema, and smelling like a pile of sh*t, it is only something that happens for other people?

I had to run to a meeting and didn't finish my post. Doctor told my dad Chantix did cause his diabetes. His eyesight got worse immediately, to the point he has to wear glasses at all times (WAS just for reading). His blood sugar is still out of whack but he attempts to control it with diet. It's been 5 years, those 2 weeks caused irreversible damage. He can actually tell when his sugar level is too high because his vision gets better.

Apparently, this is not a rare experience with Chantix and they include it on their warnings. Buck up, make the decision, and stop. Decide your health is worth it, and put that money towards something effective. Replace the habit with another habit - such as running, biking, or working out. Find something to focus your attention on and keep you (and your mind) busy instead of thinking about cigarettes.

As a former 1 1/2 pack a day smoker who already has diabetes, I took the first full stage of Chantix. Didn't hurt my sugars any, but did make my arm muscles and wrists hurt quite a bit. Sucks that's how it went down for your dad, but still, i've been smoke free for almost 7 years now. I guess there's something to be said for it. Either way, with or without meds, if you're not ready, nothing is going to work for you! Good luck!

Join the military, you'll quite whether you are ready or not. 9 to 12+ weeks of no smoking means you're cured of the addiction. If you start up after that you really ARE a dumbass!
