As I start to organize my garage, I need to find a way to mount a vise. I have a small vise on the work bench, but would like to have a larger vise that I can put a strain on. I often use a cheater on those really tough parts and also have a tubing bender (Mittler) that can be held in a vise. Does this warrant a floor mount or is there another method? I have used my mill table but I don't like doing that and it is often very inconvenient.

If your bench isn't strong enough for you to jump up and down on a handle extension on the vise handle, while the vise is bolted to your bench - you need a sturdier bench! Fix that, then bolt the vise to the bench.
For the record, my bench is
That bench is *sturdy*.
For the record, my bench is
- 4x4 legs with 1/8" steel brackets at the angles on top
- 2x4 ladder frame under the top
- 3/4" plywood permanent top
- 3/4" particle board with a white laminate on top, screwed to the permanent top so it can be removed if I trash it
That bench is *sturdy*.
