First ever 1/4 mile runs

Finally got to the track last night. Didn't run with the nitrous cuz the bottle was empty, didn't do too bad though considering I have an auto.

1st Run:
R/T : .786
60' : 2.578
1/8 : 11.034
1/4 : 17.106 @ 80.91 MPH

Then someone broke an axel and the cleanup took FOREVER (1 hour plus) so everyone's engines got to cool down real nice.

2nd Run:
R/T : .795
60' : 2.579
1/8 : 11.049
1/4 : 17.104 @ 81.01

Overall the second run was slower, but I somehow managed to knock off 2 one-hundreths. I was happy since it was my first time out there. I went with Choopi and two other friends. Choop ran a 16.1 and a 16.6 (nice burnout heh-heh). Here's my mods for debate sake:
-Random Special CAI
-Custom 2.25" Catback
-CLA Muffler
-NGK Sparkplugs

That's about it, not counting the ZEX 55 shot cuz I didn't use it. Anyone have any ideas on how I could make my non-nitrous runs quicker? I know my R/T could be better, but engine power wise? (headers is a given) but what about after those. Choops said the fuel pump and regulator (more for the nitrous) but we're kinda stuck at what else. Thanks!

those are some insanely consistant times....

I know, really, I told him last night he should Bracket race with that stuff.. LOL

I could not BELIEVE how close he was...

Boy could win some money... smile.gif

if you're gonna stick with the auto, you could get it all hopped up from level 10 and get a reprogrammed tcu so that thing will shift faster and harder than you could ever believe, and get a turbo.

your 60' times seem slow, even for an auto. Are you just flooring it when the light goes green (or just before) or are you holding the brake down and giving it a bit of gas to get the auto trans near the stall point? Either way, I would have expected better 60' times that you were getting.

He did it each way once.. He just floored it the first time, and he told me.. I was shocked.. I told him to "power brake" it and he did.. His 60' was slower... I could not believe it...

I can't believe he's that consistant either!! I ran my Tib every weekend last season, and I gotta tell you, my auto is NOT THAT consistant, Especially after sitting for ANY length of time. I have learned, however when I should expect it to slow down or speed up.
I do power brake mine. Do a slight 'burn out', roll up to the line, put the brake to the floor, and gas to rev about 3 grand or so.
Every time I go racin (brackets) I do bring home money though. Just gotta keep a log book, and learn when the car should slow down or pick back up, regardless of conditions.
