BEST MOD EVER

I don't know how many of you people have already done this. But I think I found the most worthwhile mod ever.

Getting rid of that damn "diging" door open noise. When Installing my gauge cluster, the damn thing was driving me crazy, and I found it just behind the heater knob. About 4-5 inches in. A little 1inchx1inch box that makes the most annoying sound every. Rip that bastard out. Only one screw and disconnect the power.

Thats it, and life is good.

I didn't think you were supposed to install the gauges without disconnecting the battery?

Anyway, is it connected similar to the way the gauges are or is there a wire you need to cut or what?

well, I was still taking my dash off at the time, so I wanted some tunes smile.gif I disconnected the battery when I actually removed the cluster.

But the bell thingie is actually connected via a little clip connector. Unclip and toss.
Or keep for memorabilia(sp?) smile.gif

no more ding-ding smile.gif

I took the rubber piece off the door and unplugged it. Only problem is if the door doesn't shut good the car still thinks it's closed so the light doesn't come on. But it's well worth it.

Accent WRC is on Speedvision right now too, all is well in the world smile.gif

I did the same thing JVX did and disconnectedt the plug on the door frame. I reconnected it after I got annoyed with having no dome light when I get in the car at night with the door open. I guess it's all in preference :D

you know, you could of gone the easy way... where the thing is screwed in, take out the screw... smile.gif since the switch isnt grounded anymore, no more dinging... but then again, your "door" lights wont work either.. smile.gif

Whoa. I can completely understand how excited you were after getting your new Tib and stuff...but still. I didn't need that kind of mental image. eek.gif :D

Anyway...legit question...is there a simple way to rig up the "door ajar" bell so that it also serves the purpose of a "hey, stupid! you left your lights on again!" bell? I'm not sure how many years this affects, but at the very least, the '97 A-Specs don't have one of these little warnings.

Iago... Yes, you can remove the "dinger" and splice it into the headlight wires. As far as I know...no tibby has a headlight on warning buzzer/bell.

JCWhipme sells one for $5.99
