Default Vinegar and water?

Someone told me they clean their windows with a 50/50 mixture of vinegar and water. Does it actually work? Wouldnt your windows smell bad though, and would it fade your window tint?

Window's got that not so fresh feeling? Yes.....that would stink. If you want your ride to smell like pickles, go for it, otherwise, stay with approved product.

You won't hurt anything with diluted vinegar, especially glass . . . which is probably one reason why Windex uses it http://www.windex.com/en-US/Products...e-vinegar.aspx

I heard to use vinegar/water mix to de-ice your windshield. I'd just be cautious about getting it on paint or window tint.

Just use Invisible Glass.

Vinegar and water is FINE for cleaning windows, tinted or not. It's actually what most window tint places recommend you use when cleaning tinted windows. I always mixed 25% vinegar to 75% water. It works really well and is quite a bit cheaper than a $4 or $5 can of actual glass cleaner. It will NOT dis-colour your tint, any kind of window cleaner with AMMONIA (like some kinds of Windex) is what will damage and dis-colour the tint (turns the tint purple). And despite what others say, cleaning your windows with a mixture of vinegar and water will not make your car smell like a pickle.

There's quite a bit of collision shops who use vinegar and water also when detailing cars because it's cheaper than glass cleaner and works just as well or not better. You'll be fine but dont do a 50/50 mix...do a 25/75 like Pas stated.

That's all I was saying about the pickle thing....50/50 WILL smell like pickles! I make my own, and that's about the right mix.

The active ingredient in vinegar is acetic acid. It dissolves calcium and magnesium salts from hard water easily. It's a very mild organic acid.

It also evaporates quickly like ethanol so doesn't stick around.. It is a derivative of ethanol.
