I was wondering if all tibs are like this ? when i pull the latch to open the trunk i go to the back and it doesent open it seems like the wing is too heavy and pushes the lock back down or something although it's a stock wing

if this is not a comon problem what could my problem be
oh and it's a 98 tiburon ??

You wore down the hydraulic shock things that lift the hatch.

ive never had this problem... sometimes it doesnt open all the way up on it own but it has never locked back down...

I've had this problem, but only when there is a lot of snow and ice on the hatch. make sure your not in antartica and try reopening it. idk

My 98 tiburon is the same...sux....I have the big wing though...I always thought it was just too heavy and the lifts sucked...I normally either use the key or I reach inside and push the hatch with my hand while i lift the switch

I have stock wing. No problems with it. Just when I open it (turning the key, or pulling the latch) it (lock) make loud click sound.

Try to adjust trunk lock and height of your trunk (there are 2 rubber supports)

mien does this but i think its becasue my wing is too heavy. Just give a big jerk on the lever to pop it up. Autoloc.com you can buy trunk poppers for your car.

When you open your hatch halfway, does it stay open or does it sink back down some on its own?

i have the exact same problem, and i have the stock spoiler too.... i just open my trunk with the key instead
