i wanted to butterfly my doors but my door panels arent done that good so i really wouldnt want to open them that much smile.gif how much would this cost? est..
random? really. whoa that sounds like a challenge. unfortunately i dont think any shop in town can do that stuff. they probably can but wont. and if they do they'll hurt me like a mofo with the price.

Long...k dude...here's the thing....With shaved handles, there's a way to get around the issue of your remote battery dying. That's probably pone of the biggest concerns I run into from people when I do this mod for them. Go to radio shack or some other electronics store and pick up a couple of small push button switches. Do up the shaved handles and hook up all the solendoids and poppers like normal. Take the push button switches, and install them somewhere, where no one would ever see or find them. Either under the fenderwell, under your quarter panel, in your hatch, etc.... Have it ooked up to your main battery as the power supply. That way..if the battery in your remote dies...you have the fail safe switch to fall back on. The only thing that could be bad..is if your car battery died, AND you remote battery dies at the same time. But the chances of that happening are pretty slim.
As for butterfly doors..I've done this mod before on a couple of cars. An Eclipse being one. Prices can be VERY steep for this. Mainly because there's so much modification and fabrication to be done. You're ooking at anywhere from 3-4 grand for EACH DOOR. eek.gif It depends on teh shop..but that price range is around there, unless you have connections. Also, with butterfly doors, be sure to get ready to be without your car for a good 1.5 to 2 months. Suicide doors on the other hand are a lot easier to do, don't take as long, and cost alot less than what you think. I personally can have a door suicided in about 3 days tops. Some shops might take a little longer if they don't have too much experience in doing it. But as for price, it can run ya between 800 and 1500 for each door. If you want to be unique and different, don't suicide BOTH doors. Just do one of them. That way, you have one opening normal, and the other opening reverse, and it looks cool from a distance.
As for fenders...there really isn't that much involved to bending them out into a wide body type of fender. But you're right..shops might charge alot since it's not that common of a modification. BUT..doing Z-Fenders isn't that much. it just consists of getting the vents, and molding them to your car. ANY body shop should be able to do this, and as far as price goes...it's pretty inexpensive.
Good luck! wink.gif
iago...yeah good point about the bars. i mean i guess its mainly for looks. its whats in. bout as common as rims. if i get one id want one that is really worth it. **** if it could save my life. then id spend a couple hundred bucks on it. maybe ill find someone who can weld and get it done custom.
about the doors. i never thought about the extra switch. that sounds kind of cool. i wouldnt mind repainting my whole car again anywyas and since i already have to do the rear quarter panel and then the doors. why not.
since ive never really worked with shaving doors. how hard is it. sounds pretty simple. can i do most of the work w.out welding? then just have the body shop do that? where is a good place i can get the poppers and what brands have you delt with? i dont want to buy one that going to fail. thanks again guys

Long...I've always used Autoloc on mine and my clients' rides. Their site is www.autoloc.com It's pretty simple installing the kit. If you can hook up keyless entry yourself..then you can definitly do shaved handles. As far as the actual shaving part...there is a little tap welding involved. If you don't really have the experience welding, or using bondo..then I would let a shop do it. It will probably run ya around 150-200 to have a shop just do the shaving. Maybe less if you have hook ups. Then you yourself can paint the area, and hook up the switches/kit and you'll be good to go! wink.gif
As for the kit....I've always used the 35 pound pull and no one has ever had any issues with it. But if you're really worried about it not opening the door all the way, or it locking up on ya...then get the 50 pound pull. I have yet to see an Autoloc kit fail, and that's using it every day, all the time.
