Default Ice Scrapers

I used to own a snow brush years ago that had a handle at one end, and a brush and ice scraper at the other. It was nice that the scraper was opposite the handle as this gave it some reach - I could scrape the windshield without pressing my body against the car to reach the middle of the windshield and getting all wet.

This year, while at various stores shopping for other things, i've looked at the snow brushes. They now all seem to have the scraper opposite the brush, integrated with the handle. This gives you no more reach than a hand held scraper. Why the new style of snow brushes? Is there some advantage I'm unaware of? Seems like a terrible design choice.

I use warm air, which is found in abundant-enough supply down here to prevent needing a scraper.
