Flame thrower DIY (thoughts)

I'm thinking about doing flame thrower.

I found kits that turn off spark plugs in engine and unburned fuel goes to the tail pipe and then is ignited with a tail pipe spark plug.

I don't like this idea, because when you are throwing flame - you "kill" your engine (it stops firing and you cannot go on it)

I'm thinking about puting a spark plug in the tail pipe (like in that kit) to ignite fuel, but fuel will be delivered by special pipe or injector. So we can put little tank in the trunk with electric pump.

What do you think about it?

Thats how the hot rodders do it.. They have 1 spark plug per tail pipe (in our case, only 1 tail pipe, for most) and then have an injector nozzle w/ a 2nd tank.. All electronic, all operated by switches up front.. Go check out some hot rod forums, im sure they have a DIY somewhere..

^^ Dunno how clean the Tib burns fuel (since it has cats it prob won't work), but on some cars just a spark plug would be enough because of the unburnt fuel leaving the car. It wouldn't be a humongous fireball as if you used an injector though.

I hope you got a "Get out of jail" free card, LOL

Well, I'd need it if I pulled up behind you, and you threw the switch to the flames burning my front end!, lol

Just kidding, im sure you'd be more responsible wink1.gif
but I would kill you though:cool: LOL

i always thought that flamethrowers were pretty cool, ive seen some people who have to grind some stick like thing alot then insert it back into the exhaust and then gas it. not very practical. it would be so much cooler if you could control it from the cockpit...

omg that would be awesome to do to someone you didnt like, do it when nobody is around and the car is parked in a lot, pull up, melt some plastic, roll out.. haha

That is illegal in Canada as well as in many states. Just to let you know. tongue.gif

Ive wanted to do flamethrowers for a long time because theyre so cool and not too expensive to do. I have always been afraid to try tho because Ive heard that you can easily mess everyhting up and ruin your engine and all that. If you find a cool way to do it, let us know. Good luck

Edit- And yes they are illegal in many places. Would be cool for shows but probably not a great idea for on the streets

Like hamhead said, I don't think cutting of any engine spark plugs is neccessary. The kits I've seen & read about just use the unburnt fuel already in the exhaust gas... It's still enough to project flames a few feet out the arse-end of your car... If you are that way inclined wink1.gif

its not like youd run down the street all day throwing 3ft flames, it would be strictly for show
