Fitting 2k Tib rear bumper to 97 Tib

I was looking on www.hmaservice.com and was wondering if anybody has done this conversion or knows who has, It looks like the only difference is the bumper absorber and bumper.
I plan to mould the 2k bumper to take 1st gen lights.

Barry.

Libra Racing has mixed 1st and 2nd gens on their rally tibs. If anyone knows how to get in touch with Brian Oldfield, he would definitely know. He's their body fabricator.

You might need to swap out more than that, like the rear hatch and glass, and maybe the fenders. I know you want to keep your first-gen appearance, so results may vary.

Basically, I just want the lower section effect of a 2k aftermarket bumper, so I am go to cut and finish with fibreglass to blend around the 1st gen lights and fenders.
I just need to know if the mounting holes are the same,I have a feeling they are.

anyone have an e-mail for brian???

Cheers
Barry.

I've got brians old e-mail address, but I'm not really allowed to give it out, and I'm not even sure if it is still good, I haven't heard from him in several months.

Go to the libra page and try to e-mail the team from there and I'm sure brian can get back to you.

However, I think brian would not be the right person to ask this question for many reasons....

#1 Libra did a gen2 FRONT end on a first gen Chassis/rear, not a gen2 rear on a gen1 tiburon chassis.

#2 The Libra team does some serious lightening and strengthing. I think they remove the rear bumper and make their own mounts for the body work.

You would be better off contacting your local body shop that does Hyundai work, and asking them to look them up on their computer parts databases. That should tell them if they have the same mount points.

Lastly....If all you want is the lower portion...why not get a mold of a gen2 rear bumper and put it on your gen1. Contact your local fiberglass shop or do it yourslelf.

Come on Random where would I get a mould in the UK??? smile.gif
I was thinking of the Club GTR bumper or the Veilside bumper.

Sorry, i thought you wanted to take a gen2 STOCK rear bumper...my bad.

For an aftermarket bumper, you are probably going to have to buy the rear section, then mould/fiberglass/bondo the aftermarket kit to the stock bumper...or have a whole new rear bumper made up out of fiberglass using the 2 components as a mold.

Either way, it is not going to be cheap unless you do it all yourself.

The plan is to do it myself seeing as the car is off the road, and I'm bored smile.gif
That's why I wanted to check if the mounting points are the same.
Does anyone have a pic of their stock 2nd gen rear bumper,or could take pics from various angles.

Thanks
Barry.
