Engine bay lights
If I were to install a couple of white LED tubes in my engine bay on the firewall, would it be best to connect them right to the battery for power or to the engine bay fuse box?

Always put every electrical addition after a fuse. Fuseboxes are best for looks, IMO. If you have too many things coming straight off the battery it will tend to look terrible.
