So in order to ensure there is no dry friction between the pad and the paint the pad should be loaded with product prior to starting.



I have seen people use quick detailer, what is a good cheap one to use and can anything be used as a substitute eg water?

Why would you put a dry pad up against the paint anyway? You should always put your polish or wax on the polisher first and then place it on the car.

You should always prime your pad before using it and yes QD can help lubricate the surface.
