lol! --real chrome door handle replacements okay, maybe i might reconsider. but door handle covers? i mean it's like those aluminum a-hole muffler tips. it serves no purpose.

QUOTE
I think it depends on the application. If you look at the car above...good example of bad application. Why would you black everything out including your headlights then chrome the door handles? Kind of defeats the purpose of the "stealth" look in my opinion....but yeah it is also just an opinion and things look different to different people.

thank you voiddweller! precisely. can't wait to see your car lol.gif

Nah, chrome IS rice.

1. It's heavy.

2. It's way to shiney.

3. It scratches easily, then you gotta redo it or buy a new part.

Rice = It's got NO performance value.

chrissake, they're held by double sided tape. infact, REDZ has a point that they're heavy and they serve no purpose.

look at the picture closely. the entire handle is not chrome as you can see it's black on the inside. those are covers.

at least mudguards serve a purpose. those are not rice. bodykits create a downforce and prevent wind from getting underneath your car. wings are sometimes rice when they're applied to slow cars because anyone smart enough to be serious about a wing knows that its highest effect is at higher speeds.

now, why would there be chrome door handle covers? what difference does it make whether your handles are covered over with a slab of chrome or not. they're just handles that you hold when you open your door. next thing you know somebody rips it off or ytou end up losing it.

it's just an opinion i guess. but it's definitely throwing money away when that could go to something like rotors from Majik. or as i said before something useful.

REDZ is right about no performance but i also think he meant usefulness = no value. if it's not usefull to you than i think that also = rice.

last month, i saw a riced out honda with dual exhaust--except one of the exhausts was real and the other was just glued to the bumper to make it look like dual exhaust.

Also, most wings/spoilers are not designed to accurately apply a down force. You can't just throw any 'ol spoiler on any car and have the proper results. Not to mention, most cars don't look that great with one.Of course, that's my opinion.

I don't think things like handle covers are necessarily 'rice'.If it looks good and is well made, then what's the problem? Not everything has to have a functional purpose.Unless that's what the individual wants.I guess it really just boils down to the individual.

Calm down, calm down!! I think you guys are taking this stuff a little too seriously...

If a man (or woman) wants to "rice-up" their ride, that's their prerogative...

What exactly constitutes "RICE" is complex & debatable. This issue would undoubtedly require a thread of it's own to properly disect the meaning of the word, to analyse it's roots from the term "rice-boy", to accurately distinguish what IS & what ISN'T correctly definable as being "Rice"... :?:

What with wild body-kits (aerodynamically beneficial??? yeah right!), big wings (great for use as a wind-brake!), "Lambo" doors (a good way to add weight... also give it 12 months & you'll have to switch back to conventional doors to be different! lol.gif, but IMO those things DO look shit-hot!!), vented fenders, vinyl graphics, stick-on bits, etc... the list goes on! All these things could be considered "Rice"!

I'm sure everyone here would be guilty of some form of "RICE-CRIME"!! I myself have a crappy alloy shift knob with blue LEDs on it... it doesn't really serve a purpose... also & I can't honestly say I've noticed any performance-enhancing effect from my "racing" pedals... but they DO brighten up the interior of my car! We do it 'cause it's fun... a hobby even... quite simple really!

At the end of the day, it's not something that anyone should be losing too much sleep over...

JalemX, you asked to see pics of these things on a white car so here you go...

Not the best pics, but I hope these help!
