May be taking a road trip down to California for a car show and I was wondering a few things about the blue painters tape people put on their cars.
1. Does it stick to freshly waxed cars?
2. Will it remove the wax when you take it off?
3. Do you only use one layer of tape when going on a road trip or multiple layers?
4. Do they make black painters tape? My car is black so black tape might be a little less subtle.

Seriously? A ten year old car and you're worried about taping the front end for a road trip? Do you tape it for driving to work when you could find yourself in back of a gravel truck? Unless it's a show car, taping is silly. Get a bra, get a trailer, or just stop it.

Thanks for being so cynical. You may not care about your car as much as I care about mine, but even though my car is 10 years old it still looks and performs like it just came off the show room floor. Not to mention, my paint job is only 5 months old and I plan on trying to keep the front chip free. I'm lowered and have a lip, which means its more prone to debris hitting it from the road.
MANY people tape their cars up when going on road trips for car shows. The last thing I want to do is show up at a show with a bunch of dings and chips in my front bumper. Thats not a good look imo.
But thanks for the help

or, just drive it. It's a car. You will never be able to avoid stone chips unless you put the car in a covered trailer everywhere you go. When I bought my car new in 03 I got a stone chip on the roof, on the way home from the dealership

I disagree. Show cars are a pain in the behind to keep nice. If you think it's worth it to respray a car, you probably think it's worth it to cover the paint in the areas most likely to take a bug or a stone on the way to a show.
For the original question, I am not aware of black painters tape but the green painters tape is the way to go, I thinks its designed more for automotive use. After you tape it up green, go find some cheap black tape or whatever color you want and put that over the green tape.

FYI, don't do that^^
I've done that ( at the track ) and the tape ontop comes off at 100mph.
They make all kinds of colored painters tape, the green stuff is awesome.

Try the blue, try the green, see which one you want to pull off. I *think* the green is made to stick harder and resist bleeding of paint colors (PAINTers tape) but I haven't done any side-by-side comparing.
