hi. i had my car at the mechanics last week, because i wanted him to cut my old flex pipe out and weld another on. he said he couldnt because there was something in the way, preventing him from doing so. he said it was some sort of gasket or something. something metal i think. does anybody what hes talking about?? i have to go buy this piece and i have to know what to ask for. PLEASE HELP!!.my car sounds like richard simmons getting anal raped by a weed-wacker.lol. i need this fixed!!

Sound like he is referring to the metal heat shield that runs back to the flex section.

Which easily gets cut off with a torch lol, if when you take the bolt off you can't get it off the pipe.

No need to buy another one. You may want to have them tack the end that they cut so that it doesn't vibrate and make noise.

I had the same issue and had a shop cut out the flexible part and weld a new flex pipe section into the factory pipe with no problem. The shop said the rest of the pipe was still good and this cost about half what it would have cost to replace the whole flex pipe so I went with it.
