It's plain and simple, I want to be able to go above my govenor and past my rev limitor. Thus far I haven't found any cheep solutions to this problem but I will not stop looking until I do. Anything extra that you might know which could help me with this problem would be greatly appreciated if posted on this thread. I also don't have a tib, it's a 2.0L 2003 Beta 2 Elantra XD1.

There should be a way. The Governor should be easy if you actually have one. I think ours our only rev limited. As for the rev limiter there may be a way to fool it. Otherwise I am not sure if it cuts fuel or spark but if its spark you could control spark with an MSD box and raise it to whatever you would like. I think there is a way to turn it off, though. Have you searched around here?

our cars have a fuel cutoff not a governer besides once your about 120ish it takes awhile to get anymore speed and its done around 130ish. you need either a turbo or bigger engine to go any faster. our engines just cant take us any faster without more help.

you can try cutting the RPM signal to the ECU and routing B+ to ECU to Hot-At-On power to reset it and keep the CEL off while maintaining the the ability to check for missfires. It might work.

Just keep in mind if you have NO rev limiter at all, and you miss a shift your engine will likely go KABOOM!

As far as speed limiting my 97 1.8 tib cut out at 120, the 98 2.0 I have now has gone to 140 without cutting out.

TDonnell is the highest modded N/A tib on this site I do believe...

There is a way to get a higher redline, but unless you have every supporting mod there is it is useless. Our powerband pretty much ends at 6500. T had a modded ECU and he could go up to 7800+, but he has EVERY mod pretty much.

^^^ Good points, there is no point to reving higher with stock cams/head/etc. unless you just want to be able to go faster in each gear for auto x or track purposes.

Otherwise you will just be accelerating the wear on your internals for no reason.

Even with my headwork/cams/etc. My power peaked at about 7350. Of course after that it only fell by about 5 hp between 7350 and 7800, so it was worth it on occasion for me to wind out the gear to make sure I was still in my max power range after the next upshift. wink1.gif
