I have a used flywheel from an elantra with 20,000 miles and am about to have it double plane resurfaced for $45 in preparation for my new SECO clutch. It costs an extra $90 to have it ballenced. Anyone have any experience with a flywheel ballence job? Is it worth it with 20,000 miles on a flywheel?

Anyone ever done this?

The only time I have seen a flywheel balanced is when you are balancing the entire rotating assembly. I guess it could be done separate but there should be no need on a flywheel with minimal milage.

Yeah. I'm just looking at my options. They said because it's an internally ballenced engine, it is not necessary to ballence the entire rotating assembly. It was offered to me so I figured I'd ask. Thanks.

i agree with tim, dont worry about it. ive only seen everything balenced as a unit anyway.

if your going to resurface the flywheel, get it balanced as well.

if you dont want to resurface than dont worry about it.

you can resurface the flywheel yourself, using 100 grit sandpaper, small circles is the trick. but if theres sever heat stress on the flywheel, and the surface has a bad rainbow effect, then junk the flywheel, and get a new or newer one.
